Athletes Around is designed to help athletes, teams, organizers, coaches, and sports communities connect, train, compete, discover opportunities, and participate in sports.
We want Athletes Around to be a safe, respectful, and trustworthy environment both online and in person.
These Community Guidelines apply to everyone using the Athletes Around website, mobile applications, and related services ("Platform"), including athletes, organizers, coaches, teams, and other users.
They apply to profiles, posts, comments, messages, teams, events, images, videos, usernames, and other activity conducted through the Platform.
Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, event removal, account suspension, or permanent account termination.
1. Treat Others With Respect
Athletes Around is a sports community. Competition is welcome. Abuse is not.
Do not:
- Bully or harass another person
- Repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop
- Threaten another person
- Encourage violence against another person
- Humiliate or intentionally degrade another user
- Target someone with coordinated harassment
- Share someone's private information without permission
- Encourage others to harass another user
- Attempt to circumvent another user's block
Trash talk or competitive discussion must not cross into threats, harassment, discriminatory abuse, or targeted intimidation.
2. Protect Minors
Athletes Around permits users who are 13 years of age or older, which means protecting younger users is a particularly important part of our community.
Sexual exploitation, grooming, sexual solicitation, or predatory behavior involving minors is strictly prohibited.
Users must not:
- Sexually solicit a Minor User
- Send sexual content to a minor
- Request sexual images or videos from a minor
- Attempt to groom or exploit a minor
- Make sexual comments toward minors
- Attempt to establish inappropriate relationships with minors
- Pressure a minor to communicate outside Athletes Around for inappropriate purposes
- Request unnecessary private location information from minors
- Encourage minors to conceal communications from parents or guardians
- Use Athletes Around to facilitate the exploitation or endangerment of a child
Adults interacting with Minor Users are expected to maintain appropriate professional and sports-related boundaries.
Athletes Around may impose additional messaging, discovery, profile, and location restrictions for Minor Users.
Content or behavior involving suspected child exploitation may be removed immediately and may be reported to appropriate authorities when required or permitted by law.
3. Messaging Must Be Appropriate
Messaging exists to help users communicate about sports, teams, events, training, and legitimate community interactions.
Do not use messaging to:
- Harass users
- Send unwanted sexual or romantic messages
- Threaten users
- Send repeated unwanted messages
- Send spam
- Conduct scams
- Request prohibited payments
- Distribute malicious links
- Solicit minors inappropriately
- Evade a block or account restriction
- Engage in illegal activity
Athletes Around may restrict who can initiate conversations, particularly where Minor Users are involved.
Users can block and report other users.
4. No Sexual Exploitation or Explicit Sexual Content
Athletes Around is a sports platform and is not intended for sexually explicit content.
Do not post or distribute:
- Pornographic content
- Explicit sexual activity
- Sexual exploitation
- Non-consensual intimate imagery
- Sexual content involving minors
- Sexual solicitation
- Content intended primarily to sexually exploit or harass another person
Content involving child sexual exploitation is strictly prohibited.
5. No Hate or Discriminatory Abuse
Athletes Around does not permit attacks against people based on protected characteristics.
Do not use the Platform to promote hatred, violence, dehumanization, or targeted discriminatory abuse.
Sports competition does not excuse discriminatory harassment.
6. No Threats or Promotion of Violence
Do not use Athletes Around to:
- Make credible threats of violence
- Encourage violence against another person
- Coordinate physical attacks
- Celebrate serious harm against identifiable individuals
- Intimidate users through threats of physical harm
- Promote dangerous criminal activity
Athletes Around may take immediate action when content indicates a credible risk of harm.
When appropriate, serious threats may be referred to relevant authorities.
7. No Bullying or Harassment
Athletes Around does not tolerate targeted bullying.
This includes repeatedly attacking someone's:
- Appearance
- Athletic ability
- Body
- Disability
- Identity
- Personal circumstances
- Other characteristics for the purpose of humiliating or intimidating them
Criticism of someone's performance during a sporting event is not automatically harassment, but repeated targeted abuse may violate these Guidelines.
8. Respect Privacy
Do not publish another person's sensitive private information without authorization.
This can include:
- Home addresses
- Private phone numbers
- Private email addresses
- Government identification
- Financial information
- Passwords or login credentials
- Private medical information
- Precise private location information
- Other information that could reasonably put someone at risk
Be particularly careful with information concerning minors.
9. Location Safety
Athletes Around may use location information to help users discover nearby events, teams, athletes, facilities, and sports opportunities.
Users should never use location features to stalk, track, intimidate, or endanger another person.
Do not pressure another user to disclose:
- Their home address
- Their precise current location
- Their school schedule
- Their regular travel patterns
- Other sensitive location information
Minor Users should not publicly post precise real-time locations or home addresses.
10. Meet and Participate Safely
Athletes Around can help users discover athletes, teams, training opportunities, open runs, events, and other activities.
Users are responsible for exercising appropriate judgment when participating in offline activities.
When meeting someone through Athletes Around:
- Prefer established public sporting facilities
- Verify event and organizer information
- Tell someone you trust where you are going when appropriate
- Do not send money through suspicious or unauthorized methods
- Leave situations that feel unsafe
- Report suspicious behavior
Minor Users should involve a parent or guardian when appropriate when meeting people or attending activities discovered through the Platform.
Athletes Around does not supervise every interaction or independently operated activity discovered through the Platform.
11. Events Must Be Legitimate
Organizers may only publish legitimate sporting events and opportunities they are authorized to operate or represent.
Event listings must accurately describe important information such as:
- Event type
- Date
- Location
- Eligibility
- Divisions
- Registration requirements
- Pricing
- Refund policy
- Organizer identity
Organizers may not knowingly publish fake, fraudulent, deceptive, or materially misleading events.
12. No Event or Registration Scams
Users may not use Athletes Around to steal money, payment information, registration information, or personal information.
Prohibited behavior includes:
- Fake tournaments
- Fake camps
- Fake tryouts
- Fake leagues
- Fake ticket sales
- Fraudulent registration fees
- Misrepresenting an affiliation with a school, team, league, or organization
- Collecting money for events that do not exist
- Knowingly misleading participants about material event details
- Creating fraudulent refund schemes
Athletes Around may request verification from Organizers and may restrict event creation or payment functionality while verification is pending.
13. Follow Payment Rules
When Athletes Around provides a designated registration or payment system, users and Organizers must follow applicable payment rules.
Organizers may not use Athletes Around to deceptively circumvent Platform safety, registration, payment, or fraud-prevention systems.
Athletes Around may restrict payment instructions involving unsupported or suspicious payment methods.
Never send payment because another user pressures you to act immediately. Report suspicious payment requests.
14. Refund Policies Must Be Honest
Organizers may establish the refund policy applicable to their event when Platform functionality permits.
The policy must be accurately disclosed before registration.
Organizers must not:
- Advertise one refund policy and intentionally apply another
- Falsely claim that a refund was issued
- Misrepresent cancellation circumstances
- Use misleading refund terms to deceive participants
Disputes may be reviewed under the Athletes Around Refund & Cancellation Policy and applicable payment-provider requirements.
15. Do Not Impersonate Others
Users must represent themselves honestly.
Do not impersonate:
- Another athlete
- Coach
- Organizer
- School
- College or university
- Professional team
- Sports organization
- Facility
- League
- Company
- Athletes Around representative
Fan, parody, or community accounts must not intentionally mislead users into believing they are official.
Athletes Around may require certain organizations or accounts to complete verification.
16. School, Team, and Organization Accounts
Users claiming to officially represent a school, team, conference, facility, league, club, or other organization must have appropriate authority to do so.
Athletes Around may require verification before granting official organization functionality or verification indicators.
A verification badge indicates that Athletes Around has completed the applicable verification process. It does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of the organization, its personnel, or its activities.
17. Keep Sports Information Accurate
Users contributing schedules, scores, rosters, standings, statistics, event information, or other sports information should make reasonable efforts to ensure that information is accurate.
Do not intentionally manipulate:
- Scores
- Records
- Standings
- Statistics
- Rosters
- Event results
- Athlete information
Athletes Around may correct or remove information that is fraudulent or materially inaccurate.
18. No Spam
Do not use Athletes Around primarily to send unwanted repetitive content.
Examples include:
- Mass unsolicited messages
- Repetitive promotional comments
- Automated spam
- Fake engagement
- Repeated irrelevant advertisements
- Malicious links
- Attempts to manipulate Platform engagement
Reasonable promotion of legitimate sports events, teams, training, or related activities may be permitted where consistent with Platform functionality.
19. No Fraud or Deception
Do not use Athletes Around to:
- Scam users
- Steal accounts
- Conduct phishing
- Misrepresent your identity
- Falsify verification documents
- Manipulate payments
- Misrepresent event availability
- Create fraudulent accounts
- Obtain another person's information through deception
20. Illegal Activity
Users may not use Athletes Around to facilitate activity that violates applicable law.
This includes using the Platform to coordinate serious criminal conduct or distribute unlawful material.
21. Intellectual Property
Only upload content you have the right to use.
Do not intentionally upload or distribute copyrighted photographs, videos, logos, broadcasts, graphics, or other protected materials without authorization or another lawful basis.
Teams, schools, leagues, photographers, broadcasters, and other rights holders may own intellectual property appearing in sports content.
Athletes Around may remove content in response to valid intellectual property complaints.
22. Training Content
Users may share workouts, training results, athletic achievements, and related sports content.
Do not intentionally encourage extremely dangerous conduct likely to cause serious harm.
Training information shared by other users should not automatically be treated as professional medical, nutritional, rehabilitation, or healthcare advice.
Users should make decisions appropriate to their individual circumstances.
23. Reports
If you see something that violates these Guidelines, use the available Report functionality.
Depending on the feature, users may be able to report:
- Profiles
- Posts
- Comments
- Messages
- Events
- Teams
- Organizers
- Other content
Reports should include accurate information.
Do not intentionally submit false reports to harass another user.
24. Blocking
Users may block other users through available Platform functionality.
When a user is blocked, Athletes Around may restrict interactions such as messaging, profile interaction, or content visibility depending on the feature.
Users may not create another account or use another account to intentionally evade a block.
25. Enforcement
Athletes Around may take action based on factors including:
- Severity of the violation
- Risk to other users
- Whether minors are involved
- Previous violations
- Intent
- Context
- Credibility of available evidence
- Applicable legal obligations
Actions may include:
- Warning the user
- Removing content
- Restricting messaging
- Limiting discovery
- Restricting event creation
- Removing an event
- Restricting payment functionality
- Removing verification
- Temporarily suspending an account
- Permanently terminating an account
Serious violations may result in immediate action without a prior warning.
26. Appeals
Where available and appropriate, users may request review of certain moderation decisions.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee reversal.
Athletes Around may decline repeated, abusive, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate appeals.
27. Emergencies
Athletes Around's reporting tools are not emergency services.
If you or another person is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate emergency service or law enforcement agency.
Do not rely on an Athletes Around report for an emergency requiring an immediate response.
28. Changes to These Guidelines
Athletes Around may update these Community Guidelines as the Platform, community, and safety practices evolve.
Material updates may be communicated through the Platform or another appropriate method.
The "Last Updated" date above identifies the latest version.
